On November 14, we attended the closing session of Conexión Cohort XII, hosted by Liberty Mutual in Boston. Phyllis Barajas, CEO and Founder of Conexión, presented us with a Scholarship Sponsor Award.

Rick Mastrocola, President and CEO of tonneson + co, collaborated with Phyllis Barajas to create the Scholarship Sponsorship as a way for our company to help support Conexión’s mission of advancing Latino leadership.

Our scholarship recipient for 2017 was Michael Perez, an entrepreneur who founded Perez Funeral and Cremation Services in 2015, serving the community of Lawrence, Massachusetts. Over the last year, Michael has been a part of the Conexion mentorship program where he attended workshops and communicated regularly with his mentor, Jim O’Donnell of O’Donnell Funeral Home.

Michael commented last night how thankful he was to have participated in the Conexión program. “Conexión provided great insight and support that has helped me to run my business,” said Perez.

“We congratulate Michael on completing the mentorship program and wish him all the best as he continues to run his business and serve his community,” said Rick Mastrocola.
