New Shareholder, Principal, and Members of Board of Directors

We are pleased to announce two key promotions at tonneson + co. Kevin Barthel has been promoted to Shareholder, and Mary May has been promoted to Principal. Kevin and Mary will be new members of the firm’s Board of Directors.

Kevin Barthel, Shareholder

Kevin Barthel has 19 years of experience in public accounting. His areas of focus include audit, accounting, advisory services, and mergers and acquisitions. Kevin assists his clients in implementing best practices and providing recommendations for improving internal controls. He works with nonprofit clients and closely held businesses to provide assurance services, acting as a trusted advisor to key decision makers and business owners. Kevin received a BS in Business Administration with a dual major in Accounting and Finance from Nichols College. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Mary May, Principal

With 29 years of experience, Mary May provides accounting, audit, and tax services to closely held businesses in industries such as manufacturing, distribution, and professional services. She is responsible for the oversight of the firm’s Employee Benefit Plan Audits, working closely with management teams and members of human resources to ensure compliance with the constantly changing rules and regulations affecting these qualified retirement plans. Mary also monitors the firm’s quality control system by performing pre-issuance reviews of financial statement engagements. She received a BS in Business Administration from Salem State University. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.
