Amy Phelan, CPA and shareholder at tonneson + co, has been named one of the 2019 Women to Watch by the Massachusetts Society of CPAs (MSCPA) in the Experienced Leader category. This year’s seven winners were selected by the Massachusetts Society of CPAs in partnership with the AICPA’s Women’s Initiatives Executive Committee. The winners will be honored at the 2019 Women’s Leadership Summit on October 24 at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf.

The Women to Watch Awards were created by the AICPA to recognize outstanding women in the accounting profession and are given in two categories: Emerging and Experienced Leaders. Criteria for nominations included:

• Mentoring of other professionals
• Leadership or involvement in workplace initiatives and improvements
• Overall contributions to the profession and workplace
• Public or community service
• Involvement with their alma mater or other colleges and universities

Amy Phelan has distinguished herself by playing an integral role in advancing women’s leadership, mentoring, diversity and inclusion, technology and social responsibility initiatives at tonneson + co and in the profession. With 24 years in public accounting, she has expertise in working with high-net-worth individuals, business owners and their families on tax planning, retirement planning, trusts and estates and more. Additionally, Amy is a member of the MSCPA Educational Foundation Board of Directors and serves on the MSCPA Scholarship Selection Committee.
