How Will You Make an Impact? Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

As a Tax Managing Director, you will be an integral leader in the tax department, managing a diverse portfolio of clients and ensuring the highest quality of service. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Serving as a liaison between partners, clients, and professional staff to ensure seamless communication and service delivery.
• Managing a portfolio of client engagements, overseeing tax planning and compliance services, multi-state tax filings, and tax accruals.
• Leading client service initiatives, including developing comprehensive client engagement plans and managing client expectations.
• Identifying and researching technical issues to assure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Serving as a trusted advisor by providing expert industry knowledge, identifying opportunities for value-added services, and making strategic recommendations for business improvements.
• Delegating and managing governmental tax examinations, representing clients before tax authorities as needed.
• Proactively managing engagement economics, analyzing reports and data, and addressing issues or discrepancies.
• Building and nurturing long-term client relationships by understanding their business needs and maintaining contact throughout the year.
• Developing, mentoring, and coaching tax associates, contributing to their professional growth through training programs and feedback.
• Contributing to business development efforts, participating in proposals, and identifying new revenue streams and innovative approaches.
• Participating in the firm’s performance management and goal-setting process, aligning direct reports’ development with firm objectives.

How Will You Get Here? Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• CPA certification is required.
• MS in taxation is desired.
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant tax experience, with significant time spent in a managerial or director-level role.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex tax engagements and client portfolios.
• International tax experience is a plus.
• Extensive knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code and related tax laws and regulations.
• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client relationship management skills.
• Experience with tax software such as ProSystem fx Tax, BNA products, and CCH Intelliconnect is desirable.
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
